Barry Baumgart

Having completed his B.Sc Physiotherapy at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2003, Barry has spent the past 10 years working in the field of Orthopaedics and Sports Rehabilitation. In 2008 Barry attained his post graduate certification in Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) and holds an Advanced Professional Development Level 2 (APDL2) certification as an Orthopaedic Manipulative Physiotherapist. He has also held a position as a clinical supervisor and examiner on the OMT course since 2012.

 

Grant Lewis

Grant attained his B.Sc Physiotherapy in 1994, and his Masters (MPhil) in Sports Physiotherapy in 1999, both at the University of Cape Town (UCT). He has  20 years of experience in the field of Orthopaedics and Sports Rehabilitation and completed his post graduate certification in Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) in 2004 and currently holds an Advanced Professional Development Level 2 (ADPL2) certification. Grant is a senior post graduate lecturer and has featured as a guest lecturer on numerous post graduate courses both locally and internationally. He has been the course leader and senior lecturer on the OMT Course Western Cape since 2007-present and worked as a clinical supervisor and examiner on the OMT and Sports Physiotherapy (SPT) Courses.

Grant and Barry are partners at Alpha Physio, working in private practice in Tokai. In addition to part-time post graduate lecturing, Barry and Grant have developed mobiPHYS – a web-based rehabilitation exercise software tool – with software partner Grapevine Interactive. mobiPHYS has recently been endorsed by the South African Society of Physiotherapy (SASP) and released for national distribution to their members.
